Message from Roger and Dawn Hopson, parents of Piers:
He left the care home in St Leonards on Sea where he lives, on Monday 25 January in the afternoon, saying that he would be back in a couple of hours. He has not been seen since. He was wearing a mushroom coloured anorak, dark trousers and brown shoes.
Piers is 35 years old. He is autistic and has Asperger syndrome, which means that he finds it difficult to interact with people. He probably would not ask for help, but expect someone to ask him. He has no proper friends that he might have gone to.
The Police had had reported sightings of him in the South East, but none have resulted in his safe return. If you have seen him, or know of anyone else you may have, please contact the Police on 0845 6070999.
Please find attached photo of Piers.
Heathfield has been receiving national media attention since the news broke on Wednesday 27 January of the tragic deaths of two young children found in the boot of a car parked in Mill Close, Heathfield. A Mrs Donnison, formally of Sheepsetting Lane, Cross in Hand and before that Coldharbour Lane, Punnetts Town, was arrested at Heathfield Police Station before being taken to Eastbourne District General Hospital for medical attention in police custody. It is reported that the children had recently been living in Surrey. It is not appropriate to speculate any further on this appalling incident and we leave it to the authorities who have it in hand. It is terribly sad for the remaining members of this family and especially for those residents in the area that knew the young children. We should also respect the horrific experience for our local police team in the Heathfield Police Station. We set out to represent Heathfield in the best light possible and this was an imagery that was soul destroying.
Based at Heathfield Community Fire Station volunteers will make a vital contribution by helping to provide fire safety advice and practical assistance to local people. For more information please contact Rosey Eggar on 07950 876771 or email volunteer@esfrs.org
